VIAT Campus Netball/Tennis Courts

The netball/tennis courts on the VIAT campus have now had their final surface and markings put in place, as part of a major refurbishment, which included the installation of floodlights to enable the courts to be used all year round.

We hope the new improved courts will not only mean that students from across the VIAT schools will benefit from being able to access modern facilities and gain confidence when playing sport, but also that they will drive the Trust commitment for elite sport and supporting students’ wellbeing.

Valley Park School Dining Hall

Valley Park’s new dining hall is open and being used by students and staff. The new facility has transformed the lunch-time experience, not only in terms of the provision but also in terms of the numbers of students being catered for.

The new £200k, professional kitchen provides a range of hot and cold refreshments throughout the school day.

Horticulture area

This VIAT campus brand new facility will support students in learning about Horticulture and plant Biology. Additional outdoor spaces will also be developed across all the Trust’s sites to make sure everyone can benefit from this exciting new project.

The horticulture area on the main campus has a number of raised beds, a store, a water source, greenhouse and some open growth areas.

As it develops, the site will support the curriculum and activities will be integrated into the syllabuses for several subjects as varied as Science and History. For example, in Science, projects to look at organic versus non-organic produce will help students to understand the pros and cons of each approach. In History, one potential project could look at the huge development of home horticulture during the ‘Land War’ when Britain needed to feed itself because food from abroad was in short supply.

Staff members will also run clubs and societies linked to the Horticulture Centre so that students can get properly involved with a real hands-on approach.

Science laboratories at Invicta Grammar School and Valley Park School

The Trust is embarking on a refurbishment programme to upgrade all of the science laboratories at Invicta Grammar School and Valley Park School, over the next few years.

The current facilities date back to the 1960s and, to date, four laboratories have been completely refurbished at each of the two schools, representing an investment of £500,000.
